Sitting Bull Campground, WY

Thursday, 8/9
Wait, what's strange here?  What's that sound?  Could it be the sound of NO MOTORCYCLES?!?!  What a relief.  We played a rousing round or two of Rummikub and then cycled about a mile through the meadow to the woods where we hiked for an hour.  I really felt the high altitude on the steady almost imperceptible incline throughout the whole first hour.

Coming back down was much easier, of course.  I only had to pedal my bike one revolution on the dirt road through the meadow!

Cycling portion completed, hike about to commence
We were pretty tired after our high-altitude exertions, so we took it easy the rest of the afternoon.  Tried to find wi-fi nearby (to post on the blog!) but no luck.  We had a very relaxing and beautiful evening, enjoying our view, and reading aloud to each other.  No wild animal sightings.  As we were falling asleep, we noticed rolling thunder in the distance and frequent flashes of lightning.  One bolt hit fairly close by (and loudly!) and then it finally rained.  Temps descended into the upper 40s....we slept well!
