Today was the day for
the Elephant Back Mt hike, not far from our campsite. I lost count of the number of switchbacks on
the way up, it was quite the climb.
There was a nice view of the Lake from the top. Then back down we came. It was nice to have an easier hiking
day (in that it only lasted 1 1/2 hours instead of 3 1/2 hours). The rest of the day was spent with
moving the solar panel to the next sunny spot, doing some laundry by hand and
figuring out the rest of our itinerary.
For those of you who are interested, here is the list (for the rest of
you, just skip this part):
- The Grand Tetons
- Flaming Gorge
- Arches/Canyonland
- Capitol Reef
- Zion
- Bryce
- Grand Canyon
- Flagstaff/Sedona
- Painted Desert/Petrified Forest
- Canyon de Chelly
- Mesa Verde National Park
- Black Canyon of the Gunnison
- Rocky Mt National Park
And then the big
schlepp eastward, planning to arrive at U of Rochester for Bjorn's homecoming
weekend on October 11.
We decided to
leave Yellowstone in the morning (a day early)...every day we can shave off
here and there makes it more possible for us to accomplish the above easily, and
perhaps even to add a destination or two.
