Today we decided to do a Pot Pourri of walks and climbs, so---we started along the river on a beautiful path to the next shuttle station. Then (via shuttle) to climb up to the Weeping Rocks, which create a sort of hanging rainforest-y garden on the rocks, under a constant sprinkling of water. First time we've felt humidity in months! (I'm not complaining, either).
Then another shuttle ride (LOVE the shuttles) to the the Emerald Pools walk. Which turned out to be a climbing workout.... hopefully we left some pounds on THAT trail. We encountered a LOT of people (yes, about half of them were Germans) along the way....it's Saturday of a holiday weekend.
Tomorrow we're on our way to an RV park with electrical hook-up, which means that we will be fully powered up for a change. Nils fears that our batteries can no longer hold a charge and that has contributed greatly to our ongoing lack-of-electricity issues in the national parks where there are no hook-ups, typically. We've been on thin rations in the electricity dept for weeks now...no lights, no water pump, no radio---just frig and the power jack/slider/stabilizers for set-up and getting ready to go. At least we can still use the toilet (no small deal in the middle of the night). And we use a headlamp for reading when it's dark. Modern-day pioneer living.
