Windwhistle Day two

Saturday, 9/15

Nils woke up by 5am when it was pitch black out, looked out the window and realized that the sky was FULL of stars.  It didn't take much convincing for me to get up and dressed and join him outside for about as many stars as I've ever seen at one time, including the Milky Way.  It was just spectacular.  As soon as the sun came up we went for a long walk along the Needles Overlook road.  We saw some gorgeous flowers that we hadn't seen before on our travels.

Note the 8 petals with the 3 sub-petals...

Nils counted 8 spirals in one direction and 13 in the other....Fibonacci numbers all.

Lots of clusters of these purple flowers in the fields and under trees.
We decided that we had earned a day "off", so---back to the RV to take advantage of abundant solar power and watch some West Wings, work on a puzzle and just goof off.  We did another sunset climb up the sliprock in the evening.  There were more campers (since it was Saturday), but still so quiet and peaceful.  Tomorrow:  Moab.
