To the four corners and beyond

Tuesday, 9/11
As were about to leave the Reservation, we passed through the famous "Four Corners", where four states meet at one point.  Of course we had to stop there.  You pay admission to get in (it's on the Res, NOT a national park) but we didn't mind, as the Navajo get the money.  Here's Nils standing in four states at once:

I guess you CAN be in more than one place at the same time?

Here's what he was standing on

Lisa did it in a more Yoga-esque (and less graceful) way
Along the way there was a lot of barren countryside, punctuated by shabby trailers and small houses.  Sometimes the occasional horses, ambling around (like stray dogs, actually).  There were also beautiful rock formations that sprouted out of nowhere in peoples' backyards.
This was taken from the window of the truck as we were driving.  Amazingly, withOUT telephone poles in the way
We arrived at Mesa Verde by around 3pm and barely found a campsite before a lot of other RVs arrived.  Tomorrow we are scheduled to tour the Wetherill Mesa with a Ranger.  Oh, it rained just as we finished setting up, and got purty durned cold.  We are at 7000+ ft elevation.....it feels like Fall!
